HOW-TO: BRIDAL GLOW

The secret to glowing skin on your wedding day is no secret at all - skincare.

Your wedding day is one of those moments you’ll look back on forever; emotionally but also literally with hundreds of photos and videos of your special day. With moments that will last a lifetime there is no reason you should not have the skin of your dreams for this monumental occasion.

We asked skincare expert (and lovely all-around gal), Cara Dempsey of skinCara to share her tips for achieving the ultimate bridal glow and we have to say, they were way easier to achieve than we'd thought.

Cara's practical, thoughtful tips will not only make your skin perfect for the big day, but everyday. Here's what she had to share -

Step 1: Start Prepping Your Skin Now

PRO TIP 1

Start Now

I often get asked how early you should start getting your skin ‘wedding day’ ready? My answer is now! Treating skin concerns like scarring and hyperpigmentation can sometimes take months to fully treat. The sooner you can start addressing these concerns the better your skin will look on your big day. So as soon as you say ‘yes’ to your fiance, the next thing you should do is run straight to your trusted aesthetician!

PRO TIP 2

Choose the Right Treatment

Choosing the right treatment can feel overwhelming, especially if you aren’t familiar with the ins and outs of skincare. This is where your skincare provider comes in handy. They will be able to guide you through the process and give you skincare advice like if acne scarring is your main concern microneedling may be your best option. Struggling with sun or age spots? Then they may suggest a chemical peel. Finding the right treatment is all about figuring out what works best with your lifestyle and skincare goals.

Tip 2: Choose the Right Treatment
Tip 3: SPF is Your BFF

PRO TIP 3

SPF is your BFF

Do not underestimate the power of SPF. Sunscreen is the number one power tool you have in your skincare bag to prevent the signs of aging like wrinkles, fine lines and hyperpigmentation. SPF is a must everyday but especially in the weeks and months leading up to your wedding day.

PRO TIP 4

Try Not to Stress

Ok, easier said than done. Did you know stress can actually trigger a hormone in our bodies that flares up breakouts and inflammation? I know it’s impossible to prevent all stress, especially when planning a wedding, but if you do get a stress pimple try a professional acne spot treatment. LED light therapy is also another great tool when it comes to the dreaded ‘stress acne.’

Tip 4: Try Not to Stress

Your wedding day is a day you’ll look back on for the rest of your life. It should be filled with memories of love, joy and happiness. There’s no reason your skin shouldn’t look on the outside the way you feel on the inside on your big day. You deserve the bridal skin you have always dreamed of! - Cara
